Wing screws are screws that have a head shape that resembles a wing. In principle, they are two wings that can be opened with thumb and index finger. Wing screws can be made of steel or stainless steel.

In this article we would like to give you an idea of what a wing screw is and in which applications it is used to achieve certain functions. Since the invention of the wing screw made of stainless steel, steel, V4A or V2A it has kept its triumphal march in industrial applications as well as in many private areas. In contrast to the very similar knurled screws, a stainless steel wing screw makes it even easier to apply an even greater torque to the screw without the use of any tools. Since its invention about 75 years ago, the wing screw has become more and more important in the production of industrial plants as well as in the construction of jigs and fixtures. The advantage of such a screw is very simple and yet ingenious. Imagine you want to design a detachable connection on a component in such a way that it can be removed for example without having to keep a toolbox nearby. It is precisely this ingenious task that a stainless steel wing screw can do justice to. Just with your two fingers, the thumb and the index finger, wing screws can be quickly and easily fixed to components and loosened again. As a rule, two different designs are always used. The German wing screw according to DIN and the American form of the wing screw. The construction of a wing nut is actually very simple. This is a screw head which is always equipped with two opposite wings. These wings always stand upwards diagonally away, so that a handling with the fingers is made very easy around the screw, without getting hurt, simply operated and can be grasped well. At the wing head of the screw a shank is worked in or directly attached, on which usually over the entire length a thread was cut. This thread can then be screwed into tapped holes or tightened with a locknut. If the wing screw is used in conjunction with a nut that is not firmly attached to components, the nut must always be held in place with a tool when loosening or closing, which makes the use of this screw more difficult. It is better if this screw is always inserted with fixed threaded holes only. The preferred material when using wing screws is almost always stainless steel as V2A variant or V4A variant. The advantage of this material is that corrosion on V2A is firmly excluded and V4A is not possible. For this reason also boats and yachts are equipped with many different forms of wing propellers. Rusting can also be effectively prevented when saltwater is used with V4A.

Wing Screws Stainless Steel V2A V4AWing screws are, as already mentioned, in this day and age almost indispensable. Almost no device and no technical installation can do without these little helpers any more and so machine hoods and other parts that can be opened quickly can be mounted or removed quickly and easily without any tools. We added wing screws to our stock program quite late, because we always thought that there was very little need for this kind of fasteners. The production of stainless steel wing screws

Wing Screws Stainless Steel V2A V4ANow thousands of wing screws are processed and used every day in Germany. But almost nobody thinks about how such screws are actually manufactured so that you can use them on your machines and plants. For this reason, we have decided to explain a few things to you so that you can get a quick overview of the manufacture of wing screws in all shapes. Like all other screws, a CNC screw machine must always be used for the production of such screws. Only with CNC machines an economic production of wing screws is possible without any problems, so that favourable prices for the trade are made possible. A screw machine can produce many hundreds of wing screws in many variations within a few hours without having a person with it. The screw machine always consists of a machining chuck, where most operations are carried out. Behind it there is a drum on which the raw material of the wing screw is wound. The raw wire is inserted into the chuck of the machine and cut to the desired length. Now the screw head is pre-expanded. The collar of the wing screws is then upset. The upset head is then pressed through a press into a transverse shape so that the wing moulds are formed on both sides. Now the screw is provided with a metric thread or an inch thread. This process is done by rolling the thread between the threaded plates. The wing screw with the shank is rolled back and forth between the threaded plates with high pressure. Now the thread is pressed into the shaft. Now the wing screw is almost finished and only has to be freed from the oil. This process is done by washing the screws. Now the wing screws can be stored in our shelves and sent to you when you place an order.
