Ring Screws

Ring screws are used as stop elements to lift machines and components with a crane. Ring screws have a ring as an eye and the thread of the bolt is directly adjacent to this.

You are here in the category of ring screws made of stainless steel or steel. Ring screws also belong to the larger group of bolted connections and have a very special structure, which serves only one purpose, the transport and lifting of loads of all possible types and weights. These can be machine components, but also concrete parts or other heavy assemblies in heavy machine construction. Thus, the Ring screws fulfil this task perfectly and can be used in many areas of industry. The structure of Ring screws is completely different from that of normal screws, but we would like to go into this in more detail. The structure of a stainless steel Ring screws always consists of one main component, the ring made of stainless steel. This ring has a round shape and is the main feature of these types of screws. Also the cross section of a ring bolt is worked out in a round form. At the lower end of the screw there is a plate sprue which forms the collar and stop when the Ring screws is screwed into an assembly. At this collar there is always the shaft or pin, which is completely threaded. Due to this technical application, the Ring screws can be screwed into suitable threaded holes quickly and easily. With these screw forms, they always differ in two groups. On the one hand, Ring screws made of steel or stainless steel (V2A or V4A) are required for light lifting activities. With this screw form, the manufacturing process is designed in such a way that the Ring screws can be produced in an easier casting process, in investment casting. Due to this manufacturing process of these cast Ring screws, the future Ring screws are only intended for light lifting activities. With the second type of screws, which are made for heavy lifting activities, the eye bolts are manufactured in a forging process. This manufacturing process is fundamentally different from the casting process. In the forging process, the structures within the stainless steel or steel are paid for in such a way that the loads on these bolts are twice as high as on the cast bolts. In the following article, we would like to tell you how Ring screws are manufactured and which possible types we have in stock.

The production of ring screws by casting and forging

Ring Screws Stainless Steel V2A V4AIn this article we would like to give you more detailed information about the production of Ring Screws in order to give you some more information about this topic. We have already touched on a number of things concerning Ring Screws and their production, but we would like to go into this topic in more detail in this article. As we have already explained to you, there are always two types of Ring Screws available. On the one hand, there is the forged version, which is designed for maximum loads, and the cast version, which is made for half the load and can be produced more cost-effectively by casting, like the forged Ring Screws. In the casting process of these screws, blanks are made of wax that exactly matches the shape of the future Ring Screws pattern. This process is called the wax-lost process, which has become very popular today. The wax pattern is dipped into a layer of sludge which is burnt out in a furnace. The wax flows out of the sludge layer under the high firing temperatures, while the sludge layer burns out hard. This structure is then the negative mould into which the liquid stainless steel can be poured. When this production stage is completed, the blank is removed by destroying the casting mould. Now the blank is clamped in a lathe and the collar is screwed to the Ring Screws as well as the shank. Once this production stage is complete, the thread can be cut. Afterwards the Ring Screws is finished and can be stored. The production of the heavy-duty Ring Screws is made possible by forging. In this process a raw piece of stainless steel is cut to size and heated in a red-hot furnace. Now the eye is forged under a drop forge and the contour of the Ring Screws is created. Once the forging process is complete, the collar is turned on a lathe. The shank, however, is produced thicker. The thread can now be rolled on this shank of the Ring Screws. Thread rolling or pressing is always carried out using hardened thread rolling plates. The shank of the Ring Screws is moved back and forth between the thread rolling plates until the thread is rolled into the shank of the Ring Screws. Now also the eye bolt is finished and can be stored in the warehouse to be brought to the dispatch if you order.
