Shackles

Shackles, the perfect way to make a connection between two parts without the need for tools. Shackles are also maritme articles and are often used there. Also here stainless steel is the material of first choice to exclude rust.

Shackles Stainless SteelShackles made of stainless steel are slings or anchor elements which are used in many industries. They are mostly used in ports of transshipment or in mechanical engineering companies or in agricultural machines or in forestry. Chains or chain links can be hooked in to attach further fastening elements. The smaller shackles made of stainless steel are used in boat and sailing equipment as well as in model making or handicrafts. Sails of boats or yachts can be hooked in or anchor chains can be extended and thus deeper anchorages can be used. Or the stainless steel shackles take ropes or straps on which can be attached to many different areas. So all shackles are also always wear articles, because shackles must also be constantly checked for their condition by tested specialists (in the port operation with sling chains in shackles are hung). One should not mean it, but also shackles from high-grade steel can become "tired", show material cracks or the bolt, which secures the shackle by screwing, can show also defects at the thread or at the material. There are two different types of shackles. On the one hand, the standard shackles are produced by casting. This means that there is a mould which is produced as a negative mould and liquid stainless steel is poured into the mould. Finally, the threads of the shackles have to be cut and polished to a high gloss. Then the shackle would be ready for the trade. The second variant would be to forge the shackles. This procedure is much more complex and cost-intensive. The entire shackle is forged from a single piece, i.e. from a raw material, using large drop forging machines. Through the forging process, the structure of the individual "bearings" of the steel is finely laid so that the microstructure becomes stronger and much more stable. This increases the load on the individual shackles enormously with the same material thickness.

Shackle turned - captive bolt - W-PREMIUM - stainless steel V4A

A shackle turned with an undetachable bolt in W-PREMIUM quality made of stainless steel V4A is not only used on boats and yachts to create all kinds of distortions or tensions. This safety element has also established itself in many other industries and has also arrived in industry and the private sector. How is a shackle turned with a captive bolt constructed? Again and again we receive inquiries on this subject and so we decided to briefly explain the construction of all shackles. This shackle is also produced in the investment casting process or in the wax-lost process, which means that the blanks are produced as a negative form as a wax blank and soaked in a mud bath and then fired in a kiln. The wax then runs out of the mould, leaving only the fired shell. This can then be poured with liquid stainless steel V4A. The shackle is ready. The captive bolt is produced in the same way. Then both parts have to be ground and polished by hand. The turned shackle can now be assembled with the captive bolt. The shackle is a turned structure which has inserted the captive bolt at the U-shaped opening. Captive means that the bolt cannot be lost. This is particularly important for some applications! The bolt can be opened, but cannot be removed (only removed). The screwing in and unscrewing takes place by means of the wing nut at the beginning of the bolt and no tools are needed for the assembly. Only two fingers. So we carry in our assortment the turned shackle with the captive bolt from V4A in the smallest execution in 4 mm wire diameter and in the largest execution in 10 mm. Of course, all intermediate sizes are also available here.

Stainless steel key shackle V4A

The key shackles made of stainless steel in the V4A version are a very special type of shackles, because these shackles have a pin which we would like to go into in more detail later on and to give you an idea of how it works. The stainless steel key shackle is of course, as the name suggests, mainly used for attaching keys to the key ring and the user can quickly bring the individual keys together. The key shackle made of stainless steel is also, like the others, manufactured in the wax loosening process and it must also have been prefabricated for it negative forms in order to then receive the positive form and pour out with liquid stainless steel V4A. After that this key shackle has to go through some production processes to become a shackle with a bolt. First the shackle is pre-grinded, then the shackle is finish-grinded and finally the bolt and shackle bow are polished to a high gloss. The bolt is equipped with a notch where the bolt can simply be inserted into the holes and locked by turning it sideways for a short time. Once all these steps have been completed, it can be sold. Of course there are many other forms of shackles, such as the curved shackle, the flat shackle, the short shackle, the long shackle and the snap shackle or the trigger shackle. Of course there are many other shackles, but this should only be an example. So we lead from the key shackle from high-grade steel as smallest variant in 5 mm diameter and the largest as 8 mm.

Straight shackle with V4A stainless steel Allen bolt

Straight shackles with V4A stainless steel Allen bolts are shackles that can be secured by a bolt with an Allen screw. The bolt is designed in such a way that it can only be screwed in with an Allen key and unscrewed again. This is desired for some applications, because not everyone should be able to loosen the connection without tools with such a shackle with Allen key. The bolt of the shackle has a thread at the screw-in end with which the bolt is screwed into the shackle bracket. By tightening the bolt firmly, the bolt is also secured against unscrewing at the same time. The hexagon socket bolt and the shackle are manufactured by the wax-loss-molding process, which means that a negative form of the shackle and the bolt must be made and then dipped into a mud layer. This layer of sludge is dried and fired. During firing, the wax mould is then washed out so that only the fired shell of the negative mould remains. Then everything has to be pre-ground, re-ground and finally polished to a high gloss. But not only the Allen bolts made of V4A and the shackle are at home in the big family of shackles, but many more examples of shackles belong to it, like the shackle curved and shackle long as well as the flat shackles and shackles straight. Of course, these should only be a few examples. In our stock you will find these Allen bolt shackles as the smallest size from a diameter of 6 mm to the largest size of 12 mm. Of course you will also find all intermediate sizes in our stock.

Shackle curved stainless steel V4A

A curved shackle made of stainless steel V4A is a particularly distinctive shackle with a bulbous shape. Due to the bulbous ring-like structure of the shackle it can be used well in places, where for example wider straps are used or where only shackles with "belly" can be used due to space reasons. This shackle is also closed with a bolt which in turn has a wing nut attached. With this wing the user can simply unscrew the bolt and insert it again without having to take any tools in his hand. This advantage of the wings on a bolt has the big advantage, if the place of use of the shackle can be used in curved version on boats and yachts for the canvas attachment or the tensioning ropes. Ganau does not need any tools which would be disturbing on board. A very special shackle which is curved and can be used almost everywhere. Further shackles which are also secured by a bolt are for example the snap shackle, the trigger shackle, like the bulkhead shackle and the flat shackle to name just a few examples. In the manufacturing process, the investment casting process or the wax-lose process is also used to produce inexpensive curved shackles made of stainless steel. Each cast part has to be pre-ground and polished to a high gloss. This concerns the curved shackle itself as well as the bolt with wing. You will find these curved shackles made of stainless steel in V4A design in the smallest version with a diameter of 4 mm and the largest is 16 mm in stock.

Shackle long stainless steel V4A

Also the long shackle made of stainless steel V4A belongs to the big family of shackles, as well as the snap shackle and trigger shackle and the snap shackle and the shackle in short version as well as shackle in the long version and the curved shackle, furthermore the shackle turned and the key shackle made of stainless steel. Of course many other shackles belong to this big family, which we also have in our program, but we just wanted to mention a few examples. What makes the long stainless steel shackle so special? The long shackle is manufactured in the extra long version and can hold even more rope packages or components in its U-shaped form. Especially when you have to mount several components that can be lined up over one leg of the shackle, you still have enough space to mount or screw in the safety bolt without much effort or resistance. The bolt of the extra long shackle is designed in such a way that it has a thread at the end, which must be screwed into the threaded hole provided to secure the shackle. At the other end of the bolt there is a cast-on wing to make the screw connection inside the shackle out of stainless steel with two fingers. No additional tools are needed for this shackle, which makes it so easy to handle. In our shop we offer the shackle in the long version made of stainless steel V4A in the smallest bolt diameter in 4 mm. The largest diameter of the bolt for the long shackles is available in 12 mm. All intermediate sizes are available in the shop.

Shackle turned form made of stainless steel V4A

Another very special shape is the turned shackle made of stainless steel V4A. The special feature is the twisted form on the shackle's shackle bracket - which makes it possible to change direction. The bolt is turned 90 degrees to the U-shaped centre of the shackle, which is inevitable for some applications. This can often be the case, for example, with machines and equipment or with certain other technical devices or on boats and yachts. The bolt that has the thread at one end, which must be screwed into the bracket of the turned shackle to securely lock the shackle. Tools are not necessary when tightening the shackle, because a wing is cast onto the bolt, which can easily be rotated with two fingers to close the turned shackle made of stainless steel. How are the turned shackles actually made? In principle, all shackles made of stainless steel are cast using the investment casting process or the wax-lose process. Negative moulds are produced and then immersed in a mud bath. This sludge is fired in an oven and the wax can run out, which has the advantage that the fired sludge acts as a shell. So the liquid stainless steel can easily be poured in and then hardens. Then the raw shackle will only be ground in its turned form and finally polished to a high gloss. Then the shackle is sold. In our delivery program there are turned shackles made of stainless steel in V4A with a smallest diameter of 4 mm and the largest diameter has 12 mm.

Flat shackle with stainless steel collar V4A

A flat shackle with collar made of stainless steel V4A is often used as an inexpensive variant, because this flat shackle is very cheap to manufacture. The very flat shackle is made of a stainless steel sheet which is provided with a sikkein in the middle of the shackle to achieve a further stiffening of the shackle made of sheet metal. Due to the sikken shape, the sheet metal is pressed inwards at the sikken points and thus gives the sheet metal an enome strength. This compensates for the relatively thin sheet thickness of the bow. As a socket bolt or screw-in bolt, a flattened piece sits as a wing on the bolt, where the operator can simply unscrew the bracket and insert it again. This does not require any tools when mounting the flat shackle. Again, stainless steel V4A is used as the material. But not only the flat shackles with collar belong to the big family of shackles but also the turned shackles and the key shackles, as well as the straight shackle and the straight shackle as well as the long shackle and the shackle with big opening and the short shackle and the bulkhead shackle, the snap shackle and the trigger shackle. Of course, the list is not complete, but only an example. These flat shackles made of stainless steel are also used in industry as well as in the private sector and above all in the boat trade. In our delivery program we have put together the flat shackles in different sizes. The flat shackle made of stainless steel is available in the smallest diameter in 4 mm and the largest bolt diameter is 6 mm. Of course you can find all intermediate sizes in our shop.

Shackle straight - captive bolt - stainless steel V4A

The shackle straight with captive bolt made of stainless steel V4A is a simple shackle which has normal dimensions. The straight shackle is also made of Edelshal V4A and has - and this is the most important - the captive bolt. This means that this bolt cannot be lost so easily if it is of course not unscrewed with the bolt thread through the first bow body, which is usually never done. The bow body has a round cross section on the straight shackle. This shackle is also produced in the investment casting process or also in the more economical wax-loss process, which allows the production of several shackles with the captive bolt. The Wax-Lost process is a process which creates a negative wax model and dips it into a mud bath to produce the robust outer shell for the subsequent casting. Once the wax mould has been dipped into the slurry, it is placed in the kiln to harden. The mud layer hardens and the wax flows out through the heat. The mould is ready. Now the liquid stainless steel is poured in. Then it is ground and high gloss polished. Further shackles in the family of shackles are also the short shackles, the flat shackles and the shackles long, as well as the shackles curved and the shackles short and the straight shackles. Of course the list is not complete yet, but we also stock all other shackles in our assortment. With the shackle with the captive bolt made of stainless steel we stock the smallest diameter in 5 mm and the largest diameter is 12 mm. All other intermediate sizes are of course also available in our shop.

Shackle with large opening made of stainless steel V4A

A V4A stainless steel shackle with a large opening is a particularly wide shackle that has a large radius and is therefore extremely wide compared to other shackles. This allows the attachment of wide straps or many different other elements or the attachment to wide inaccessible places on components or other mechanical groupings. The shackle itself - which has the large opening - is kept very slim by the diameter of the shackle cross section. Thus the shackle can also be pulled through narrow, thin holes in order to connect it as a fastening element. The large opening entrance on the shackle can also be put over larger components and closed. Of course the shackle with the large opening is not the only one in the family of shackles, there are many more, but we would like to introduce only a few of them: the turned shackle, the key shackle, the curved shackle and the turned shackle and the flat shackle as well as the key shackle and the trigger shackle. These examples are of course only a small selection from the larger family. The shackle with the large opening made of stainless steel is also manufactured by investment casting or the cheaper wax-loss-method. The finished raw casting components only have to be ground and then polished to a high gloss. So we carry the shackle with large opening in our shop and the smallest diameter of the bolt is 5 mm. The largest diameter of this shackle is 10 mm. So of course all intermediate sizes are available.

Shackle curved - captive bolt - W-PREMIUM stainless steel V4A

The shackle curved with captive bolt in W-PREMIUM stainless steel V4A quality is a special form of a shackle. Because this curved shackle in W-Premium quality is a semicircular design at the entrance or at the opening narrower than for example this similar shackle with large opening. It is often used on boats and yachts and can be easily screwed in and opened again without tools using the wing-shaped bolt. This facilitates assembly and disassembly according to the task of the shackle. These shackles are also increasingly used as accessories in industry and the private sector, and the triumphal march continues day by day. If the curved shackle is manufactured, then only two methods are possible with this model. The first is investment casting, where components are produced as wooden moulds and moulded in sandboxes and then poured out. The slightly cheaper method is the wax-lodging method in which a wax model is produced using a 3D printer and then dipped in a mud bath. The sludge is then burnt out and hardened in a kiln. The sludge becomes extremely hard and the wax runs out. The shell is now poured with liquid stainless steel and then removed (destroy the burned sludge layer). Then the curved shackle in premium quality made of stainless steel is only ground and then polished to a high gloss. The same happens of course with the bolt. To list you also some other models of shackles from the large group: These include the key shackles, the long shackle, the short shackle as well as the shackle curved and the turned. Of course these are not all next to the curved shackle in premium quality with the captive bolt. In stock for fast shipping we stock the shackle with the captive bolt in W-Premium quality in stainless steel V4A in the smallest diameter of 4 mm. The largest shackle of this grade is 12 mm. All intermediate sizes are also available.

Shackle straight long - W-PREMIUM - captive bolt - stainless steel V4A

Shackles straight long in W-PREMIUM quality with captive bolts made of stainless steel V4A are very special shackles in the large group of stop elements. This shackle is very long and narrow - which leads to the fact that it can be pulled into narrow through-holes of fabric tarpaulins or threaded into the shackle arm by many smaller components, which also have very small holes. This is often not possible with the standard shackles, because these shackles are designed more for load and therefore have a thicker base body. The slim shape of the long shackle makes it elegant and shapely. The surface is high-gloss and strongly polished, so that it reflects extremely even in sunshine. The long shackle in premium quality also has a bolt that is captive. The captive bolt is designed to pass through two tapped holes in the shackle arms, meaning that one side serves only as a locking thread and the other thread serves as a mounting thread for the bolt. If you turn the bolt only towards the mounting thread, the bolt can never get lost. The pin can only be removed completely if it is also screwed out through the second thread. Which shackles belong to the large group? Further shackles made of V4A stainless steel are for example: the snap shackle, the short shackle and the key shackle as well as the flat shackle and the turned shackle as well as the curved shackle and the straight shackle. Of course we haven't listed all of them, but you can also find all of them in our shop. In our stock we have straight long shackles in W-Premium quality made of V4A stainless steel in the smallest bolt diameter of 5 mm up to the largest shackle of 12 mm.

Shackle short stainless steel V4A

A shackle short stainless steel from V4A are the shackle shapes that are probably most often used on boats and yachts. These shackles - which are very short - are also used in small inaccessible places and can be used with ropes and straps as well as when space is limited. This is what makes the short shackle so interesting for seafaring, because on boats and yachts, but also on fishing cutters and other commercial work platforms, this shackle is most likely to be found. The shackle also has a very short bolt and a wing at the beginning of the bolt, where you can screw in and unscrew the bolt with just two fingers, simply the bolt and without any tools. This is especially useful on working cutters, because there is time money and you can't always go first to look for the tool box when changes are made. This process takes a lot of time and that's why the short shackles made of stainless steel V4A with the wing screw as bolt are so popular. This demand alone makes many customers use this shackle shape again and again. The outer surface is pre-ground and finally, as with all shackles, polished to a high gloss in order to guarantee maximum beauty of form and to enable absolute saltwater resistance. An almost perfect shackle for private use and industry. The shackle is made of stainless steel V4A and is mostly made by sand moulding as an investment casting or by the more popular wax loosening process, in which the casting of the originals is poured out by an empty wax mould. This achieves a higher casting performance per hour and reduces costs. In our delivery program there are many sizes of short shackles made of stainless steel, so the smallest bolt diameters are 4 mm and the largest diameters are 25 mm for heaviest designs and loads. Thus all intermediate sizes can also be found in our stock. Which shackles can still be found in the family? This also includes the key shackles and the turned shackles as well as the curved and the short shackles, the trigger shackles and the snap shackles. However, these are only a few examples, because all the others we have not listed are also available in our shop.

Key shackle with stainless steel bridge V4A

A V4A key shackle with a stainless steel bridge is a shackle in which a wide - middle - bridge is installed between the two shackle bars. This is useful when ropes have to be specially tensioned or also when straps have to be pulled through, for example. The integrated bridge is also useful if the key shackle is used for keys, for example, as the name suggests, and is attached above the bridge by means of a key ring. Then two separate areas are created which do not allow a "mixing" with the lower area of the stainless steel key shackle. At the lower end - respectively at the entrance of the key shackle - sits as with all other shackles, a bolt which is not screwed in to secure it but is locked by a notch lock by half-sided turning. The advantage of such a twist lock is that the twist pin can be opened quickly and closed again just as quickly. The small wing at the beginning of the bolt is designed for a secure grip with the fingers, so that no tools are needed for the use of the stainless steel bridge key shackle. This is a great advantage that many users have already recognised and are using depending on the application. In the production of key shackles with V4A webs, the wax loosening process is usually used to create cost-effective products. Especially in larger quantities, this process makes use of some advantages. Further shackles of this family are the trigger shackles, the curved shackles, the long shackles as well as the short W-Premium shackles and twisted shackles. Also included are the flat shackles and the straight shackles. Of course not all shackles are there yet, but this list should only be exemplary. We stock the key shackle with bridge in our warehouse as the smallest version in 5 mm and as the largest shackle 8 mm as the more robust version. The intermediate sizes are also available from stock.

Shackle short W-PREMIUM made of stainless steel V4A

The shackle short W-PREMIUM made of stainless steel V4A is rather a stocky shackle which, as the name suggests, was manufactured in a short version. These short stainless steel shackles are used on yachts and boats that really value a W-Premium shackle in a short version. Because this shackle can withstand a lot and also takes up a lot of load to withstand the tensile load. The short W-Premium shackles in the short version are the perfect solution, especially when you are tying ropes, which sometimes have a very high tension or have to withstand a permanent load. Of course there are many other shackles available for very special applications, which we also stock in our assortment. In order to give you an idea of some of these shackles, we would like to briefly show you some examples: among others, the trigger shackles such as the drop shackles and bulkhead shackles are also included and the snap shackles and the shackles short as well as the curved shackles and the shackles with large opening. This list should only include some of the shackles in our stock. Many have already asked themselves how the short shackles are made? We would also like to briefly explain this question to you. Basically, the wax loosening process is almost always used in the manufacture of cast shackles, so that a repeatable production of cast parts in large quantities can be realized cost-effectively. A pattern is created using a negative mould, immersed in a sludge bath and hard-fired in a kiln. The wax runs out during the firing process and the solid sludge shell remains. The liquid stainless steel is now poured into this shell. Then everything is removed (the shell of fired sludge) and the raw shackle in short version only has to be ground and polished afterwards. Then the short shackle in W-Premium quality is sold. In our stock we stock the short shackle made of stainless steel as the smallest variant in 4 mm and the largest is 12 mm. You would like another intermediate size, no problem, we also carry this.

Bulkhead and drop shackle made of stainless steel V4A

The Schott shackle and drop shackle made of stainless steel V4A also belong to the very special shackles in the large group of shackles and so the Schott shackles and drop shackles are rarely called. Other shackles include the extra short shackle, the twisted shackle, the long shackle, the curved shackle, the W-Premium shackle, the shackle with a large opening and the flat shackle to name but a few. So we have many more in our product range, just have a look around. But now back again to the bulkhead shackle or the drop shackle made of stainless steel V4A which is a precision casting element and can be cast as a sand casting element or in the wax-loss-method. The production of shackles from stainless steel casting is always more complex than conventional production methods by simply bending elements. The bulkhead shackles and the drop shackles have half a shackle which differs from the other shackles by a wide opening when it is opened. In addition to this, the locking mechanism is achieved simply by snapping a bolt into the base casting. A key ring is attached to this locking bolt, on which the attached element can be released immediately - even under tension - by simply pulling it. The user can simply reach into the ring with his finger if necessary and pull briefly, then the bulkhead shackle or the drop shackle from V4A immediately jumps open. These are so-called emergency shackles. The basic body made of stainless steel has a perfect recess for a rope, so that this also fits exactly and without rubbing its place. In principle such a shackle belongs to the safety elements. We stock several sizes of V4A stainless steel bulkhead and drop shackles, the smallest of which has a length of 52 mm. The largest is 96 mm and is intended for heavy applications. Intermediate sizes are also available.

Short shackle with captive bolt

This shackle, which is short and has a captive bolt, is one of the most used shackles in sailing technique, on yachts and boats. The reason is very simple. Because this short shackle is space-saving - just by the short design - very often used on board. The surface is visibly glossy and beautifully worked up and reflects in the sunlight high gloss. This gives the material, which is always made of stainless steel V4A, its unmistakable touch and at the same time is extremely resistant to salt water. Because exactly this property is essential for life on boats and yachts. But it is not only there that the space-saving small fastening elements are used thousands of times every day. Short stainless steel shackles are also being used more and more in industry, plant construction and rope lift technology. Or also in food technology - i.e. in food plants - where deflection pulleys and stainless steel ropes are used, shackles are increasingly used as stop elements. Are there any other shackle shapes besides the short shackle? Of course, to give you a few more examples from the shackle family, the drop shackles are also called bulkhead shackles, the flat shackles, the extra long shackles and the turned shackles as well as the curved shackles. The special helpers are manufactured in a casting process that has established itself in recent years as a cost-effective replication mould - the wax-lost process. Negative moulds are produced, covered with mud outside and fired in an oven. During the hardening of the sludge shell, the wax escapes inside the mould. Only the hard protective shell of the negative mould remains. This is then poured with a liquid stainless steel as a V4A alloy. The next step is the grinding of the blank and high gloss polishing. Then the short shackle can be sold. In our stock program we stock different sizes of short shackles made of V4A stainless steel. The smallest of these types is 4 mm and the largest is 12 mm. Intermediate sizes are also available.

Snap shackle with swivel eye made of polished stainless steel

What a great shackle, the snap shackle with swivel eye polished stainless steel. This shackle leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to flexible use. Why then? Because this shackle with vertebral eye sets accents, which are not to be discussed away simply. The shackle itself is a shapely structure, which also allows a separate rope attachment to a freely rotating vertebral eye. This vertebral eye is of course very firmly connected to the shackle itself. A screw with a hexagonal head that goes through the vertebra and opens into the basic body of the snap shackle was used. Thus the nevertheless quite firm connection to the snap shackle is manufactured and nevertheless separately stored, the vertebra with the eye for the rope feed-through. So the rope can never twist in itself and is still firmly connected to the snap shackle. The shackle itself is equipped with a snap bolt, the shackle is attached in the semicircular shape like the similar model of the shackle and can also be opened under heavy load without resistance. The securing is also done again by means of a bolt, which engages in the base body of the snap shackle with swivel eye. On the bolt there is again a locking ring, which can be opened simply by pulling with the finger. It has never been easier to open a snap shackle under load. The whole shackle is made of V4A stainless steel and is therefore extremely saltwater resistant and ideal for use on boats and yachts. In our delivery program of the snap shackle with swivel eye made of stainless steel you will find many different sizes. The smallest is 68 mm and the largest is a full 128 mm and is suitable for the heaviest applications.

Trigger snap shackle made of stainless steel V4A

The trigger snap shackle made of stainless steel V4A is in the genus of all shackles one of the special, because its whole construction and the way you can operate it is fundamentally different to all other snap shackles in the big family, to which of course many other shackles belong. Only briefly we would like to introduce you to some other shackles, such as the short shackle, the long shackle, the turned shackle and the curved shackle, and also the shackle straight with Allen screw and the shackle with bar. Of course you are welcome to have a look at and order any other shackles that we have not listed here. This short insight should represent only a few examples of shackles. But now back again to our trigger snap shackle, which has a very special construction which we would like to go into now. The whole basic body is a cast body part, which is made of stainless steel. The procedure for the production of the trigger snap shackles is called the wax-loss-method and it contains first of all the production of a negative form which is then covered by a mud layer and hardened by multiple firing in a kiln. At the same time, the wax model runs out of the mould due to the heat of the firing. All that remains is the shell, which is solid and stable. The liquid stainless steel V4A, which is resistant to salt water, is poured into this shell. After breaking the fired mud layer, the blank trigger snap shackle can be removed from the mould. Of course, this has to be subjected to several steps to become a finished snap shackle - trigger. This includes first of all the grinding of the surface and the following high gloss polishing on the right polishing machines. This process applies to all parts of the trigger snap shackle. Then the assembly takes place. Due to its design, the snap shackle can be opened quickly and at any time, as it is designed in such a way that it can be operated freely and without resistance even under the greatest load. When actuated, the semicircular bracket of the Trigger snap shackle snaps open immediately. There are two ways to open it. On the one hand it can be released via a small locking lever, which only has to be lifted briefly, on the side of the snap shackle, or on the other hand it can be gripped with the fingertip into the opening provided below the vertebra. The trigger snap shackle opens in fractions of a second. To prevent ropes from wrapping and endless twisting, this snap shackle has a built-in swivel. This is connected to the vertebral body with a heavy connecting screw and holds both parts together securely. In our warehouse we stock different sizes of trigger snap shackles made of stainless steel. The smallest is 84 mm and the largest has a length of 126 mm for the heaviest applications. The intermediate size is also available.

Snap shackle with closed eye made of stainless steel V4A

The snap shackle with closed eye made of stainless steel V4A is very similar in construction to the snap shackle with swivel eye. Both have the same mechanism to open and close the shackle, but more about that later. Not only this snap shackle with the closed eye belongs to the large group of shackles, but many more. To name just a few, there are: the flat shackle made of stainless steel, the trigger shackle and the turned shackle, the curved shackle and the key shackle as well as the long shackle and the straight shackle and the shackle with a large opening and the shackle in W-premium form, as well as the bulkhead shackle and the short shackle just to mention a few. Of course there are some other shackles in the family, all of which can be purchased in our shop system. But now back to the snap shackle with closed eye. This is a pure investment casting, which in most cases is always produced in the wax-lost process, which means that a negative mold must be created and then dipped in a mud bath. Afterwards everything moves together into a kiln where the sludge shell is burned out at high heat and the wax basic form runs out. Only the cooled but solid shell of burned sludge remains. The liquid stainless steel V4A can now be poured into this mould as an alloy. After the stainless steel has cooled down, the snap shackle blank can be removed. Then the closed eyelet and the rest of the snap shackle are machined. These operations include grinding first and polishing the entire shackle last. Once all these steps have been successfully completed, the assembled snap shackle with the eye closed can now be sold. Now also the locking bolt with the circlip on it is installed so that the snap shackle can perform its function. We supply you with snap shackles with closed eyelets made of stainless steel V4A as the smallest version in 52 mm and in the largest version in 96 mm. The intermediate size is of course also available in our shop.

The first step is always to select the individual shackles and the other products you need. Put everything together in the desired quantity and put the different shackles in the shopping basket. Once everything has been put together, follow the next step. Now it is important that you create an account, so that all your delivery data can be stored in it, which we need for shipping. Once this section has been completed, you will be asked to choose a payment method that is best for you. If the decision is made, you confirm the purchase with the payment. If this was successful, then an automatic delivery of the order confirmation for your purchase (shackle) takes place. The goods are then assembled in our warehouse and handed over to the transport company. After some time your order should arrive with you.

The different shackles in the industry and in the boat need

There are shackles for light to medium loads and also shackles for heavy lifting activities. For example, stainless steel shackles for light to medium loads are usually cast by investment casting or sand casting, as explained above in the other section. Shackles, which are designed for heavy to heaviest loads, are usually forged. The forging process does not separate the structure of the "fibres", but forges them in the direction of flow. This immensely increases the load capacities. At the same time, we would also like to briefly introduce you to the various shackles that we have in stock, so that you can get a small overview. The turned shackle is a segment in the area of the stop elements which can arrange chains offset by 90 degrees. The key shackle is a special element which is purely intended to hold keys as individual elements. The straight shackle is a standard shackle that can have many uses. The curved shackle has an overhanging curve of the element and is designed to accommodate wide straps and ropes. The long stainless steel shackle with its extra long fork is designed to be hung into wide elements. The flat shackle has a very thin material and is made of sheet metal. The key shackle with bridge is designed so that straps and ropes cannot get lost even when the shackle is open. Furthermore there are the bulkhead shackles and the drop shackles, which have an automatic snap lock. All these variations should give you an overview, which possibilities are possible in the big world of shackles.
