Fuse Elements

Fuse elements are all those elements that can secure components. Fuse elements can be bolts or rings or completely different shapes. Fuse elements are also exclusively made of steel or stainless steel.

What are actually fuse elements? Have you ever asked yourself this question before? Fuse elements are elements that secure other elements. These can be screw connections or also completely different areas in which fuse elements are used. The term fuse elements is only the generic term for components that are intended to secure other systems and usually excludes the possibility of unintentional opening or unintentional movement of components or assemblies. Fuse elements are not only found in the area of screw connections but also in many other far-flung areas. In the following further articles, we would like to briefly introduce some of the most diverse fuse elements.

The belt buckle as a Fuse elements of straps and belts

Fuse Elements Stainless Steel V2A V4AMost of the time, as already mentioned, almost everyone thinks of a washer or a spring washer or a retaining ring when thinking of a fuse element. We would also like to introduce you to the buckle as a fuse element that holds straps and belts together and thus takes over the same task. The belt buckle made of stainless steel is ideal for fastening and securing straps and belts. It is simply incorporated or inserted into a strap or belt and the belt can be secured in various lengths. If necessary, the belt buckle can be easily moved and the length of the strap can be changed in no time at all.

The round steel stirrup as Fuse element for pipes

Pipes must also be secured in the correct specified position on house walls or in cellars when installing heating systems. This is done by the round steel brackets made of stainless steel. These are also fuse elements which, by screwing them into the holes in the steel, ensure that they all remain securely in place. The round steel brackets can thus be simply placed over the pipe and quickly secured by means of a washer, a spring ring and the correct hexagon nut. If necessary, the round steel bracket can be released and the fuse elements can be reattached.

Fuse elements: Locking plates with nose

Locking plates with nose also belong to the large family of fuse elements and are used daily on technical installations. The plates are simply placed under the screw connections and the connection is secured. To do this, the lug only has to lie against the edge of a component and the locking plate is folded upwards on one surface of the nut or screw. The securing of the fuse elements is thus established.

Fuse elements: Circlips for shafts and bores

Fuse Elements Stainless Steel V2A V4ACirclips for shafts and especially for bores also belong to the category of fuse elements. This is because fuse elements, as the name suggests, secure shafts and bores so that axial displacement of components is not possible under any circumstances. Components are secured depending on their position. Only by removing the fuse elements is it possible to remove the components axially.

Feather keys as torque Fuse elements

A Fuse element does not always have to have a round shape, like a lock washer or a locking plate. This is how feather keys to the elements also find their way to secure components during torque transmission. In this case, feather keys are inserted into a groove in the shaft, only the halves stick out and engage in the groove in the hub of a component without play. This ensures the transmission of a torque. However, if the torque to be transmitted is too high, the feather key will shear off again and protect the components from greater damage. The feather key must then be replaced (Fuse element).

Round wire Snap rings secure shafts

Like the Fuse elements for shafts and bores, the round wire snap rings also secure shafts. This also makes them part of the big family. The round wire snap rings are placed in rectangular grooves on shafts or half-round grooves. Axial overload protection can, but does not have to be provided by the snap ring jumping out to prevent component overload in the axial direction.

Adjusting rings as flexible Fuse elements

Fuse Eelements Stainless Steel V2A V4ASet collars also belong to the family of Fuse elements. Set collars are one of the most flexible elements, because they can be moved freely on the shafts or axles without usually having a groove or using other fastening options. A stud bolt is usually sufficient to secure the position on shafts and axes. Set collars are particularly interesting when it comes to fast positioning in a wide variety of positions. Of course, we could present many more Fuse elements, but this should only be an insight.
