The different stainless steel and steel storm hooks
Storm hooks have already been described in detail in the previous article. We have also already gone into the two basic designs in great detail. Within this article, however, we would like to go into more detail about how storm hooks can be manufactured. If we talk about a storm hook made of stainless steel or steel which is produced from a continuous wire, the description of the production of such a storm hook is quite simple and not very complex. Let's start with the fact that there must be a wire bending machine in which the wire is inserted. Once the program is loaded and the wire is pulled into the machine, the bending of the new storm hook can begin. To do this, first the stirrup is bent into the desired shape and then the storm hook itself is bent as well. At the end, an eyelet must be bent on. This eye is then anchored in the screw that is turned into the wood. The opposite screw piece then holds the hook of the storm hook. The far more complex part of making a storm hook by the casting principle, is the casting. Casting a hook by means of a liquid stainless steel or a steel, is by far more complex. For this purpose, a mold or an impression of the future storm hook must always be made. Once this process is completed, it can come to the actual casting process of the storm hook. Here, the mold is crucial. Then the liquid steel or stainless steel can be poured in. After cooling, the blank of the storm hook is removed and can be machined into the desired shape. Finally, the storm hook usually appears in a highly polished finish.
