Angle joints are joints that allow an angle to be redirected through the angle joint. An angle joint is usually a ball-shaped structure in which a ball with a thread is seated. The material used for angle joints is steel or stainless steel.
Today, angle joints are among the force transmission elements in every manufacturing industry in mechanical engineering or all other demanding technical systems that allow a change of direction, whereby the movement can be executed three-dimensionally through the angle joint. In contrast to a clevis joint, an angle joint has far better possibilities to connect off-centre connecting components without misalignment. Especially in mechanical engineering, such elements are now standard for highly complex technical systems and equipment. For this very reason, we would like to take a closer look at these elements today, in order to describe the detailed construction of metal angle joints and also briefly explain the assembly process. We would also like to take a closer look at the materials from which angle joints can be manufactured and are used in industry. In the last section we come to the production and the machines used to produce such elements in a high quality. We would also like to start again with the construction in detail, so that you know how a metal angle joint is composed. This joint essentially consists of three parts. At one location of the joint, there is the shaft with the thread to screw the head to a component. The ball head is located in the upper part of the threaded shaft. The second part is constructed in such a way that it has a ball socket and at the end a threaded hole around the joint to screw on a component or a cylinder. The third part, on an angle joint is the safety clip, which is used when the two parts are assembled to form an angle joint. This clamp is bent in such a way that it must first be pushed through the hole in the conical socket and then clipped over the socket joint. The shaft piece with the thread and the ball must fit directly and without play into the ball socket of the angle joint during assembly. Finally, the safety clip must be placed over it and secured. The angle joint is completely assembled. The materials used for these elements are always the bare steel, which of course still has to be provided with a surface coating so that the corrosion can be delayed. If you want to have it even better and more corrosion-proof, you should definitely choose stainless steel for the angle joints, as only this material is permanently protected against corrosion. A distinction is always made between two alloys. On the one hand the stainless steel V2A and the V4A. V2A is usually sufficient. But if you want to use the angle joints on boats and yachts and salt water is nearby, you should always use the stainless steel V4A.
Our stock program of angle joints - buy online in our online shop
In this area, the demand for metal angle joints has increased steadily in recent years. Of course, this also means that these elements must also be delivered to industry in sufficient quantities so that production in mechanical engineering and all other technical areas does not come to a standstill. Due to the increasing complexity of machines and technical equipment, the requirements for angle joints and their accuracy have also risen more and more. With our online shop we offer our customers from industry and private sector the possibility to buy their angle joints made of stainless steel (V2A and V4A) or steel around the clock in our online shop. So you can make your purchase also at night or early in the morning and you are not limited to our opening hours. To make sure that the purchase is secure, we decided some time ago to change the entire domain to the secure SSL certificate. This creates more security when handling your data via our domain. All of your stored data, such as your delivery address and your email address, are now securely stored, so that when exporting your order to our merchandise management system, the data can no longer be accessed by third parties. While we are on the subject of security, we would also like to give you a brief explanation of how a purchase of your angle joints should proceed so that your order can be processed securely and promptly via our online shop and you receive the products quickly. If you have also come to us via a large search engine using the search term "angle joints", we were sure you would think that you now have the opportunity to buy your goods in the desired quantity at a reasonable price in our online shop. If you have all the products in your shopping cart next to the angle joints, you can now create your own account so that your data can be stored. If this ordering process is also completed, the last step of the purchase process follows. You must log into the shopping cart and follow the instructions until you are presented with the payment options you have chosen. Now settle the outstanding amount and carry out the payment. If this process of paying for your steel or stainless steel angle joints was successful, you will receive a confirmation e-mail where you can see exactly what you have ordered.
The production of angle joints
Now we have come back to the last section of this article, in which we take a closer look at the production of angle joints made of steel or stainless steel. Every one of you who install joints in the most diverse technical installations every day knows exactly how these parts are put together and how these elements can be assembled. But few of you know more about the production of such angle joints. With this we want to give an insight to everyone who is interested, so that you know what we are talking about. In this article we would also like to start with the machines on which these elements can be manufactured. It has to be said that nowadays almost exclusively CNC milling machines are used, because these machines work independently and usually always have to be coupled with a loader. This loader can be used to load the raw bar stock, which is a round material made of steel or stainless steel, so that the CNC machine can collect the material as required. Via the CNC program a parameter list is then loaded, which contains all the information that controls the speed and all the feeds. Once the material has been loaded and the tools have been set up, the first step is to produce the angle joints, i.e. the shaft with the ball. To do this, the material is always turned down first so that the thread can be cut. Then the ball is turned on. When this section is finished, the shaft can be cut off. When manufacturing the cup joint, the first step is to drill the core hole into the material. Then the thread is cut. Now the cup is milled into the joint by a contour milling cutter. Afterwards the small cross hole has to be drilled through the angle joint and the cup, where later the safety clamp or the stirrup is hooked in. Now the acetabular joint can be tapped off and the outer contour can be screwed on first. The threaded shaft with the ball and the cup joint can then be assembled to form an angle joint. Once the assembly is completed and the safety spring is clipped in, the angle joint can be stored in our warehouse and shipped to you when you order.
