Retaining Rings

Retaining rings for bores and shafts reliably secure against axial displacement of components. The position of the component is fixed by clipping retaining rings into bores or shafts. Retaining rings for shafts and bores are usually made of stainless steel or steel.

Retaining rings for bores made of stainless steel are no superfluous helpers in industry or model making, because retaining rings for bores ensure that bearing seats or other components in housings maintain their position permanently without leaving the axial position unintentionally. Seeger rings are used in mechanical engineering or in the food industry or automated systems in special machine construction, even in model making. Especially due to daily use in the food industry, it is also important that the retaining rings made of stainless steel do not rust! Only materials such as stainless steel V2A or V4A provide these advantages. Because that would be anything but allowed by the regulations! The small or larger retaining rings are inconspicuous structures which can also secure bushes and sleeves in bores against axial displacement. These stainless steel structures have a round shape and two inwardly curved lugs at the ends, which are drawn through two holes. The circlips for bores can thus be inserted quickly and easily into the respective bores using circlip pliers, more on this later under "Fitting circlips for bores". You can also read more about retaining rings for stainless steel drill holes in our blog post.

Why do you need retaining rings for stainless steel shafts? We believe these questions are asked by many people who have little to do with this retaining element. A retaining ring for shafts is an almost closed stainless steel structure, which has two bulges in the open position, each of which has two holes. Exactly these bores are intended to allow the circlip to be spread by means of pliers and thus to widen the ring so that it can easily be pushed over a shaft or axle until it has reached the groove into which it is to slide, but more about this later "under assembly". Retaining rings made of stainless steel for shafts are used almost exclusively in industry or in model making in the private sector. These small, important, but almost inconspicuous helpers ensure that gear wheels or ball bearings remain in the correct position without slipping on the shafts to leave the fixed position. If we may tell you a little bit more about the retaining rings for stainless steel shafts, please visit our blog. We would like to tell you more in the next paragraph about the assembly of circlips.

We supply you with retaining rings for shafts made of stainless steel - buy online in our online shop

Retaining Rings Bores Shafts Stainless Steel V2A V4AWe stock many different retaining rings for shafts made of stainless steel in V2A and also in V4A. So we can supply you quickly with the right rings without causing long downtimes of machines or technical equipment. In our stock we have retaining rings for shafts in stainless steel from 4 mm up to the largest shafts up to 140 mm. Of course, we can also supply you with all intermediate sizes that you need on a daily basis. Please have a closer look in our shop. For many years we have been selling retaining rings for shafts, also called circlips, to customers all over Europe and supply them to industry and private consumers. The private use of shaft retaining rings has grown steadily in recent years, the reason being the ever increasing mechanization of technical and mechanical equipment, which of course also requires maintenance and repair. Functional model making has also become more and more widespread in recent years, where shafts on lorries and excavators have to be equipped with snap rings for shafts. You can see that the variety is spreading more and more. For this reason, our online shop has grown more and more, because we have more and more customers visiting us who want to buy your mechanical products. For this reason we decided some years ago to convert the complete online shop to the very secure SSL certificate. Thus our website is very secure against access from outside to further protect your data when ordering. To place your order, please collect all your security rings you need. These can be large quantities or just single pieces. Once you have chosen the right product, please add all parts to the shopping cart. If all parts are in the basket, you will automatically be directed to the selection for the payment option that suits you. This will take you to the secure payment page and you can complete the payment. Afterwards you will be returned to our website. You will then automatically receive a confirmation email where you can see which retaining rings you have purchased. Now that we have received your order, it will be assembled in our warehouse and handed over to the shipping company. After a few days you should receive your order.

The assembly of retaining rings for bores

Retaining Rings Bores Shafts Stainless Steel V2A V4AWhen you have received your order from us, you can unpack the retaining rings for bores and install them immediately in the bore. When fitting retaining rings for bores, make sure that the groove in the bore is clean and free of grease. It is important that there is no dirt in the groove and that the retaining ring used may not engage correctly in the groove. This would be fatal for the axial securing of components such as bearings or other parts. If the groove is now clean, the circlip can be placed on the small bolts of the circlip pliers (Attention: circlip pliers must also compress the bolts at the front when they are pressed together, otherwise the pliers for circlips are intended for shafts!) Once this has been done, the circlip must now be compressed in order to slide into the housing, i.e. the bore. Tip: if you press the circlip against the housing and then press the ring together with the pliers, it cannot turn away, for example if the bolts of the pliers are too small for the holes in the circlip. Now move the ring with the pliers pressed together up to the groove in the bore and then let the ring snap in. This snap in is well audible. The circlip is then firmly seated in the bore. Now check whether the component to be axially secured has too much play behind the retaining ring. If this is the case, adjust the play using the shims / shim rings until the play has completely disappeared. The assembly of the retaining ring is now complete.

The assembly of retaining rings for shafts

Retaining Rings Bores Shafts Stainless Steel V2A V4AThe assembly of wave sea rings is actually relatively simple. But we have received several emails asking us to explain them in detail. When you have received the retaining rings you ordered, unpack the bag from the package. Then prepare the shaft or axle for it and clean it, so that the groove is cleaned with the right solvent, so that no residues remain in the groove. Take the safety pliers for shafts (opening outwards when pressed) and put the safety ring with the holes on the two small bolts of the pliers. Now spread the circlip carefully until it slides over the shaft. A tip: If possible, press the circlip against the face of the shaft so that the circlip cannot turn sideways - because this often happens when the bolts of the pliers are too thin! Now carefully wipe the ring in the direction of the groove until it engages in the groove. This ensures that the retaining element is correctly fitted. If there is now too much play between the retaining ring and the gear wheel or V-belt pulley, shims / shim rings must be packed in between until the play is eliminated so that the gear wheel remains firmly in position. Assembly of the rings and the shaft is now complete and the element to be secured is firmly seated axially.

The production of retaining rings for bores

In the production of sea rings, a number of things have to be taken into account in the production process. Basically, all retaining rings are always made of steel plates or stainless steel plates. The raw material plates always have the same thickness as the finished retaining ring should later have. To produce the rings, so-called punching machines are used, which work on the basis of CNC programs. For punching, imemr punching tools have to be manufactured which have the complete contour of the circlip to be punched. All preloads are already calculated. Once the punching tool is clamped in the machine, the machine can start the manufacturing process. The punching head and the die always move over each other, so that the finished retaining ring falls out when the two are moved together. When the rings are all punched, they are deburred in a trovalisation device and then come into the oven for hardening. Once this process is also completed, the retaining rings are cleaned again and stored in our warehouse until your online order arrives so that the goods can be shipped.

The production of wave sea rings

Of course, retaining rings for shafts must first be manufactured so that they can be installed and shafts can be secured. In this article we would like to give you some insight into how such a production process is carried out. Many users of these retaining elements use these elements again and again, but you do not know how they can be manufactured. Before the production can be started the following questions have to be answered? Is the correct punching machine for the steel or stainless steel V2A or V4A plates available and is the punching tool for punching such retaining rings available? If all conditions are possible, the selection of the correct sheet thickness is the next step. For example, if you want to produce a circlip with a thickness of 2.2 mm, you need the right sheet metal for it. Now set up the machine and align the punching tools to each other. Place the sheet metal on the machine and load the program. When all is configured, the start can begin. The shaft retaining rings can now be punched out. Once the entire sheet metal has passed through, the rings can be hardened. For this purpose they pass through an oven where they are all annealed. Afterwards, the rings are deburred and the goods are ready for storage. We are now ready to deliver your orders quickly and promptly.
